The Mission

To change the perception of autism and empower parents to adopt a mindset that will enable them to support the optimization of their child's life.
For over 10 years I have had the pleasure of working directly with many different individuals with autism. During this time I have gained a lot of therapeutic skills; moreover, I have had the opportunity to witness the lives of individuals affected by autism outside of a school or clinic by providing in-home therapy. The latter experiences has widened my lens and consequently inspired me to change my approach to the therapy I provide. It is my passion to learn more about what it is like to have autism from the individuals directly and and to share that knowledge. As I develop and add more content to this website, I intend to inspire and empower parents and caregivers to embrace autism and find interventions that build on their interests and strengths.

Education and Clinical Experience

I'm a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Middletown, Ohio. I specialize in early intensive behavioral interventions for preschool aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) by providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment in their homes. I received my Masters degree in Special Education from Xavier University in 2012 and then my Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from the  University of Cincinnati in 2013. While in school my hands on training was developed during my 6 years of working at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in The Kelly O’Leary Center. Through these experiences I gained invaluable skills and knowledge in the treatment of ASD. As a behavior therapist at Children's Hospital, I worked one-on-one with individuals in group settings providing therapy in both the Severe Behavior Treatment Program (SBT) and in the Early Intensive Behavior Intervention Classroom (EIBI). Through my experiences I have developed the skill of data-based decision making to enhance academic programming and to develop behavior management plans. I have experience working with pre-school and school aged children on the spectrum who exhibit a wide range of difficulties, from intense behavior problems to sensory and communication deficits.

What this Blog can do for you

My intention for this blog is to be a source of support for parents that are looking to understand their child and to help them find their voice and place in this world.  Faced with an autism diagnosis I can only imagine is devastating. Tons of uncontrollable thoughts of worry, despair, confusion, overwhelm, sadness, uncertainty etc…. These are all normal and natural emotions when faced with a situation you don’t understand. It is my aim to help mitigate these feelings by imparting knowledge that will help you replace these feelings with hope, clarity, direction, confidence, and comfort and to help you see autism as a condition that can be treated. My articles are purposely short and written without too much technical jargon so the content be consumed at any level with immediate take away of helpful methods to implement immediately at home with your kids.
